What to Look For in a Steam Mop
Things that actually matter
Steam temperature and sanitization. Effective sanitization requires 170°F+ for at least 5 seconds of contact. Most steam mops produce 212°F steam at the source. The Dupray's 275°F is overkill for most uses but does kill more bacteria faster. Check if your floor manufacturer approves steam cleaning — some luxury vinyl and engineered hardwood do not.
Heat-up time for realistic use. 30 seconds or less means you'll actually use it. 5+ minutes means you'll delay mopping and floors stay dirty longer. The O-Cedar's 20-second heat-up encourages frequent use.
